VVP Erin Schuman wins 2024 Korber Prize
Congratulations to Dr Erin Schuman, Director of the Max Planck Institute for Brain Research in Frankfurt, on winning the 2024 Körber Prize. Schuman is a pioneer in the field of brain cell biology. Her ideas have revolutionized our understanding of how the billions of neurons in the human brain synthesize the proteins needed to communicate, regulate brain function and consolidate memories. Building on these discoveries, she now plans to investigate disease-related changes that occur at the junctions between neurons, called synapses. This could lead to new ways of treating brain disorders such as Fragile X syndrome and Huntington’s disease.
